David Eugene Hawley, age 60, of Bryant, Arkansas, passed away on Friday, May 30, 2014 in Ketchikan, Alaska while vacationing with his beloved wife on a dream vacation. On February 9, 1954, David was born to Eugene Arthur Hawley and Sammie Louise Bates-Hawley. As a young man, David spent much of his life with his late grandparents, Monroe Arthur Hawley and Christeen Parkridge-Hawley. In 1972, David graduated from Bryant High School. At the age of 18, David began his career with Tri-State Thermo King and progressed to being the companies Vice-President. He worked for Tri-State Thermo King for forty-one years until he retired in October 2013. David had a passion for work and loved providing for his family. Over the years with Thermo King, David made countless friends that he grew to love as family. On June 12, 1976, David married the love of his life, Mary Melinda Few-Hawley. Together they shared thirty-eight wonderful years and had two beautiful children, Joshua Adam Hawley and Janet Renee Hawley. David had a love for life and his family. He enjoyed traveling and his life was filled with world travel. David enjoyed many outdoor hobbies, including hunting, fishing, horseback riding, and scuba diving, which he shared with his wife and children. David loved softball and sponsored a co-ed softball team in Sardis , Arkansas for ten years. All who knew him knew of his loving nature and giving heart. David was witty and had a wonderful sense of humor. He touched the hearts of everyone he met. David loved everyone he knew; however, he had a special love for children and hopelessly adored his granddaughter Karly Christine Hawley. David was a wonderful husband, father, and friend. No other could compare to the love, happiness, and memories he has given his family. He is survived by his wife, Melinda Hawley, son, Joshua Hawley (Kenzie), daughter, Janet Hawley, and granddaughter Karly Hawley. Also surviving are his mother and step-father, Sammie and Al Goodwin, two brothers Bill Hawley and Chris Goodwin, and two sisters, Martha Moore and Vicky Shellnut. He is also survived by a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, and nephews. Celebration of his life will be held on Saturday, June 7, 2014 at 2 p.m. at Dial and Dudley Funeral Home in Bryant, Arkansas.
