Betty Sue McNeil Eaves of Benton, was born May 12, 1930 and passed away Thursday June 5, 2014. She was reunited with her parents, Ruben F. McNeil Sr., Memphis Ruth Welch McNeil and her brother, Ruben F. (Bud) McNeil Jr. Betty is survived by one sister, Tommie Leigh Crowson (Ralph), son, Ike F. Carter III (Karen), daughter, Susan E. Gattin (Greg) all of Benton, grandchildren, Celia Sue Wheeler (Duane) of Ellijay, Georgia, Desiree Singletary (Vince) of Tallahassee, Florida; Ike F. Carter IV of Benton; step grandson, M. Corey Gattin of Conway, eight great-grandchildren, three nephews and one niece. Betty was a lifelong resident of Benton where she worked in Bookkeeping, retail sales and served in 1960 as director of the 6th congressional district crew leader for the Federal Census. She also served as treasurer of the state Jaycettes in the early 60's. Betty Sue loved her church and was a faithful member of Sharon Baptist Church where she was a former member of the choir and Sunday school teacher. She enjoyed fellowship with her many friends at both the Benton and Bryant Sr. Adult Centers and looked forward to each visit. Betty Sue was known for her sweet, positive nature and wonderful hugs for all. She truly loved and thought the best of everyone. She will be greatly missed by her family and friends. Pallbearers will be her nephews, Mark McNeil, Mike McNeil, Jeff Crowson, Doug Carter, Jessie Carter and great grandson, Chris Singletary. Church Services by Ashby Funeral Home will be Monday June 9th, 2014 at Sharon Missionary Baptist Church at 10 a.m. Bro. Richard Hamlin and Bro. Muncy Harris will officiate. Burial will follow at Sharon Cemetery. Visitation will be at Ashbys, Sunday, 3 p.m. until 5 p.m. Online guest book at www.ashbyfuneralhome.com.
