James Clarence Doggett

James Clarence (J.C.) Doggett lost his 25 year battle with Parkinson's disease on April 22, 2014 in his home in Guatemala where he was lovingly cared for by his wife of 34 years Lilliana Franco Doggett. J.C was born November 19, 1932 in Bradley County the youngest of 15 children of Woodie H. and Mary Parnell Doggett. Other than his wife he is survived by his three children, Kara Mc Dowell, Kim Penick, Jay Doggett, their mother Shirley Williams Doggett; four grandchildren: Steven, Christopher, Amanda, and Katie of Tulsa, OK; sisters Clara Fowler of Banks and Margie McDougald of Jersey, and a host of nieces, nephews and friends. Other than his parents his was preceded in death by brothers, Leroy, Alvin, Earl, Everett, Royce and sisters Irene Simmons, Linnie Mae Colter, Beatrice Carmical, Estelle Powell, Agnes Cathey, Lois Ray, and Everie Doggett. J.C. was a witty gentleman who enjoyed life, spending time with family and friends, often bursting into a song, quoting and writing poetry or cheering on a favorite sports team. J.C. and Lilliana moved to Guatemala City, Guatemala after his retirement. J.C. was Director of Mental Health Services at Moton Health Center, Professor and Chairman of the Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Science at the Oklahoma State University and the College of Osteopathic Medicine and Surgery. He also was involved with Jobs Corps and other educational programs. He was a Navy veteran of the Korean War, serving on a transport ship moving troops and equipment between the USA and Japan. A memorial service will be held on Saturday June 7 at 1:30 p.m. Immanuel Baptist Church, Warren. In lieu of flowers donation can be made to the Michael J. Fox Parkinson Foundation, Crossroad Baptist Church or the Bradley County Veterans Museum.
