Jerry Lynn Sangster Parlin, 69, of Sarasota, Florida, passed away April 19, 2014. She was born in Memphis, Tennessee April 6, 1945 to Jack and Jean Arthurs Sangster. Jerry grew up mainly in Little Rock but enjoyed spending her summers with relatives in Cotton Plant, Arkansas. Jerry graduated from North Little Rock High School in 1963. She attended William Woods College in Fulton, Missouri where she received a BA in English Literature in 1967. She was a charter member of the Chi Omega Fraternity Tau Theta chapter at William Woods. After college she married the late Edward Wesley Parlin, Jr. and spent the next years raising a family in Little Rock. Jerry moved to Sarasota, Florida in 1993 where she enjoyed the warm weather, beauty, and gentleness of the Gulf of Mexico. She was smart, funny, and easy going, with a sharp sense of humor. She had an infectious smile and laugh that enabled her to make friends wherever she went. Jerry was loved by many and will be dearly missed. She is survived by two children, a daughter, Emily Light Parlin, of Bingen, Washington, a son, Edward Wesley Parlin III, of Snowden, Washington, a sister, Jacqueline Kinney of Fayetteville, Arkansas, a brother, John Sangster of Little Rock, Arkansas, and a life partner, Mike Conger, of Sarasota, Florida. She is preceded in death by a daughter, Elizabeth Stewart Parlin, and a sister, Jeannie Smith. A memorial service will be held at Cotton Plant United Methodist Church on Friday, June 20th at 11:30 a.m.
