Ted Ray Whillock

Ted Ray Whillock 78, of Clinton, Arkansas passed away Wednesday, June 11, 2014. He was born March 24, 1936 in Clinton, Arkansas to the late George E. and Raye B. (Thompson) Whillock. He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother, Freddie Whillock, and a son, Mike Whillock. He is survived by his wife of 40 years Donna (Spence) Whillock of the home, two sons, Marty Whillock of Dekalb, Texas; and Scott Whillock of Greers Ferry, Ark.; one daughter, Molly Willock of Avery, Texas; nine grandchildren, a brother, Joe Tom Willock of Clinton, Ark.; many nieces, nephews and close friends. Ted graduated from Clinton High School in 1954. He was an All State Guard on Clinton's 1953, State Champion Basketball Team. Ted playedfor Kilgore College and was All-American on the 1956, National Championship Team. He graduated from East Texas State University and began his coaching career at Morton, Texas. Coach Whillock's Morton Indians were dominate for nearly 20 years under his leadership. His 1972 team won the state championship and and the Indians were consistantly in the state Tournament. Ted returned to coach at Clinton High School for three years before retiring. He was the Texas Basketball Coach of the Year in 1972. Ted was inducted into the Kilgore College Athletic Hall of fame in 2010. Ted spent most of his retirement days hunting and playing golf. Memorial Service will be 10 a.m. Saturday, June 14, 2014 at Clinton United Methodist Church with Pastor George Odell officiating.
