MATALIE WEBB 97, of North Little Rock, Ark., passed away June 12, 2014. She was born July 29, 1916 in England, Ark. and was the last surviving child of eight born to Joseph and Myra Webb. Matalie graduated as valedictorian from England High School in 1934. She earned a Teaching Degree from Central Baptist College in Conway, Ark. graduating with highest honors. After teaching school for three years in Keo, Ark., she was employed first in Washington, DC, and then transferred back to Little Rock, Ark. in 1941, while working for the Selective Service Administration. Upon their closing after WWII, she transferred to the VA Hospital in North Little Rock, Ark., as secretary to the Chief of Staff. Matalie retired from this position in 1976. Matalie spent her retirement years enjoying reading, watching television, going to movies and attending activities of nieces and nephews. She contributed her long life to her love and enjoyment of her nieces and nephews, their children and grandchildren, being affectionately called "Mamee" by all of them. She was a faithful member of the First United Methodist Church of North Little Rock, Ark. She is survived by nieces and nephews, Kathy Jolly (Dr. Robert), Dr. David Bevans Jr. (Peggy), Carl Powell (Colleen), Jerry Wilbourn (Nancy), Bert Webb (Betty), Mitzi Webb, and Bobbye Jeanne Lankford. She was a wonderful Aunt, friend, and supporter to all, and will forever be in our hearts. The family deeply appreciates the loving care given to her by the physicians, nurses, staff, and caregiver Sharon Stuff at Baptist Health North Little Rock. A special thank you to a dear friend, Jane Ann Benafield, for her endless love, care, and support. A graveside service will be Tuesday June 17, 2014 at 2 p.m. at Edgewood Memorial Park in North Little Rock, Ark. with Pastor Davis Thompson and Pastor Brent Higdem officiating. Memorials may be made to First United Methodist Church of North Little Rock and Arkansas Children's Hospital.
