Rex George Carson, age 77, of Benton, passed away Friday, June 20, 2014. He was born April 12, 1937 in Little Rock, Arkansas. Mr. Carson graduated from Arkansas State Teacher's College, now UCA, with a teacher's degree and taught for ten years. The last five years of his teaching was at Benton High School where he was also the golf coach. He left teaching and opened the first custom golf repair shop repairing and building custom clubs. Mr. Carson repaired clubs for people from 14 different states. Not only did he repair clubs, but loved to play the game. He served in the Naval Reserves and was a member of the First United Methodist Church. Mr. Carson was preceded in death by his parents, George and Maxine Carson. He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Noelene Carson of Benton; son, Adam P. Carson and wife Jenny of Benton; daughter, Stacey Carson Patterson of Little Rock; five grandchildren, Noelle and Olivia Carson, Noah, Micah and Eli Patterson and numerous extended family and friends. Visitation will be 2 to 3:30 p.m. Sunday, June 22 at the First United Methodist Church in Benton with memorial services beginning at 3:30 p.m. Rex played in the Dorcas House Golf Tournament every year to help them raise money, so the family is asking in lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Dorcas House at 823 S.
