Georgetta Birmingham Rhodes

Georgetta Birmingham Rhodes, 68, of Pine Bluff, died Sunday, June 22, 2014. She was born August 19, 1945 in Pine Bluff, daughter of George N. and Lula Simpson Birmingham. Georgetta was reared and received her early education in Grady, graduating from Grady High School. She was employed at the Pine Bluff Arsenal until her retirement in August of 2013. Mrs. Rhodes was a very active member of Good Faith Carr United Methodist Church, volunteering just about any time the doors were open. She was preceded in death by her parents; and sister, Maxine Birmingham. Survivors include her three sisters, Jewel Fawcett and her husband, Brice, of Downers Grove, Illinois, Jo Ann Newell of Dawsonville, Georgia and Sandra Weir of Pine Bluff; brother, Aubrey Birmingham and wife, Carolyn, of DeWitt; significant friend, Leonard Hankins of Pine Bluff; and several nieces and nephews. A memorial service will be 2 p.m., Thursday, June 26, 2014 at Good Faith Carr United Methodist Church with Reverend Ryan Allen Rush officiating. A reception will follow the service at the church.
