Mildred M. Maxwell

Mildred M. Maxwell, 97, of Decatur, Ill., formerly of Clinton, Ark., died June 24, 2014. A celebration of Mildred's life will be held July 1 the First Baptist Church of Clinton, Ark. Visitation will be from 6-8 at the Roller-McNutt Funeral Home in Clinton. Burial will be immediately following the celebration at Quattlebaum Cemetery. Memorials may be sent to First Baptist Church, 211 1st Baptist Rd., Clinton, Ark. 72031. Mildred was born June 24, 1917, the oldest child of Viola and Frank McKnight. She married Denver D. Maxwell on Sept. 24, 1945. She was a graduate of Friends University in Wichita, Kan. Mildred taught school for 32 years beginning in a one-room school house in Arkansas and spending most of her teaching career in Derby, Kan. She retired to Clinton, Ark. Mildred was always very active in her church and taught Sunday School until she was 90. She is survived by her daughter, Carol Mason (Wes); grandchildren, Jad Mason (Sarah) and Ty Mason (Nicole); five great-grandchildren; sisters, Marie Loftus, Macel Quattlebaum, Mada Knight (Hiram), and Ima Jo Bradley (Joe). She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Denver; two sisters; and two brothers. Mildred was a kind and loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She will be greatly missed.
