Marguerite Layton

Marguerite (Greet) House Haynes Layton, age 92, of Malvern, started her Heavenly family reunion on February 27, 2014. She was born in Hot Spring County, Arkansas on January 18, 1922 to Tom House and Judy Caroline Ross. Mrs. Layton was preceded in death by her parents; three brothers, Bill, Murl and Woodrow House; three sisters, Carrie Urhine, Mae Stone and Barbara Lires; husbands, Ray Haynes and Jim Layton and one beloved son, Jimmy Haynes. She attended Glen Rose High School, where she played on the varsity basketball team. Mrs. Layton was primarily a housewife and mother, and enjoyed fishing and crocheting. Although she didn't like to cook, she had a special knack for creating "good" meals out of nothing; one of which was our favorite lunch, chocolate syrup and saltine crackers. She was of the Baptist faith. Mrs. Layton possessed true grit and an unwavering faith which allowed her to endure the many earthly trials and tribulations. Her tenacity in life will be an everlasting memory for her family. She leaves to cherish her memory, two daughters, Judy Baker and June Haynes of Malvern; daughter-in-law, Sharon Haynes of Little Rock; two grandsons, Doug (Beth) Barnett and Leslie (Brenda) Barnett; three great-grandsons, Logan, Corey and Travis Barnett all of Glen Rose and several nieces and nephews. Visitation will be 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday, March 2 at Ashby Funeral Home. Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Monday, March 3 at Ashby Funeral Home with burial at Fairplay Cemetery. Rev. James Floyd will be officiating. Family Comments: A special thanks to Heartland Rehab and Care Center, Saline Hospice, River Street Church of Christ, especially Mason and Hayden Williams for their Outreach Card Ministry and Traskwood Missionary Baptist Church for their loving thoughts, cards and prayers.
