Charles William Brooks, 67, of Benton, went to be with the Lord on Feb. 28, 2014. He was born Oct. 15, 1946 in Chicago, Ill. to the late William E. and Katherine Trzyna Brooks. Charles graduated from England High School and enlisted in the United States Army, afterwards receiving a BSE in Math and Physical Science from UCA and MS Computer Science from Henderson. Charles was employed by Entergy Arkansas and prior to his employment with Entergy, he was the Football Coach for Glenwood Schools. Everyone who knew Charles was aware of his love for coaching Football. He was preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Rae Ann Brooks; brothers, Norman and Jack Brooks; sister, Margaret Young; and his Godly and special parents, Kenneth and Lexie Johnson. Charles is survived by his wife, Nancy; daughters, Christy (Doug) Ray, Jennifer (Joel) Ruff; sister, Ann (Kenny) Thorton; brother, David (Lynda) Johnson; grandchildren, Triston Ray, Gabriel and Isabel Ruff; and very dear family members, Billy and Diana Plyer, Brandie and Brooks Killian; and all of the Plyler and Kirkpatrick families, many family and friends. Chapel services by Ashby Funeral Home will be 10 a.m. Tuesday with Rev. Larry Williams and Rev. Kenneth Thorton officiating. Burial will be at 2 p.m. at Keo Cemetery in Keo, Ark. Visitation will be at Ashbys, Monday, 6-8 p.m. Charles' family wishes to thank Dr. K. Heifner and Kim, Arkansas Heart Hospital Doctors and Staff, Baptist Hospital Doctors and Staff and a special thank you to Arkansas Hospice Staff.
