Walter Hugh Van Pelt

Walter Hugh Van Pelt, 88, passed away on March 4, 2014. He was born to the late Walter and Louise Van Pelt on July 16, 1925, in North Little Rock, Ark. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Martha "Marty" Van Pelt, who passed in February 2002 and a daughter, Margaret West. Walter was a member of the Church of Christ in Perryville, Ark. He served 42 years in the Army Reserves and 23 years of that service was Civil Service. Walter also was a reserve deputy sheriff in Pulaski and Perry counties. He very much enjoyed working on, building and riding motorcycles and he enjoyed fishing on Harris Brake Lake in his spare time. Walter is survived by two sons, Bill (Michelle) Van Pelt and David (Jan) Van Pelt both of Perryville, Ark.; six grandchildren, Karla Deann Van Pelt, Shane Coup, Jordan Coup, Kathi Van Pelt, David L. Van Pelt Jr., and Nick Van Pelt; and a number of great-grandchildren. Visitation will be from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. at Griffin Leggett Conway Chapel, on Monday, March 10, 2014. Funeral Services will be held at 1 p.m. at Griffin Leggett Conway Chapel, on Monday, March 10, 2014. Burial will follow at Rest Hills Memorial Park in North Little Rock, Ark.
