Frances Baker Jolley, age 99 and 9 months, went to be with the Lord Jesus Christ on March 9, 2014, after peacefully passing away in her sleep. Born and raised in Monticello, Drew County, Arkansas, Frances accepted Jesus as her Savior in 1932 and was baptized the following year. Frances graduated from high school in Warren, Arkansas, and then worked at the WPA where she met her future husband, Joe Mack Jolley. After marrying Joe, Frances moved to New Orleans in 1936 and joined First Baptist Church New Orleans a few months later, remaining a member for nearly 77 years. She enjoyed teaching Sunday School to four-year-old children, volunteering at N.O. Baptist Theological Seminary's missionary home and being active in the Lakeshore Garden Club, the Gourmet Club, WMU and many other church activities. Frances cherished her 64 years in New Orleans—spending time with her friends, riding the streetcar and eating good gumbo. In 2001 she moved to Brentwood, Tennessee, to live with her daughter, Judy, and son-in-law, George, where they had many happy times and lots of laughs. Frances was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 42 years, Joe; parents, Linnie and Robert Baker; brothers, McRobert, Joe and Jack Baker; and sister, Mary Lynn Fryer. Frances was deeply loved by her surviving family: her only daughter, Judy Kirchner; son-in-law, George Kirchner; granddaughter, Jennifer Berdy and her husband Stephen; and two great-grandchildren, Kyle and Kody. She will be sorely missed by her family and many friends. Frances will be remembered for her love of Jesus and desire for others to have a deep relationship with Him. Funeral Services were held on Thursday, March 13, 2014 at Lake Lawn Metairie Funeral Home, New Orleans, La. Interment took place in Lake Lawn Park Mausoleum. Memorial donations may be made to BillyGraham.org or Samaritan's Purse. To view and sign the guest book, visit www.lakelawnmetairie.com.
