Robert Donald Ferguson, Sr., 87, of North Little Rock passed away March 18, 2014 He was born on September 10, 1926 to the late Mr. and Mrs. Morris Kelly Ferguson of Ottawa, Kan. Robert is survived by his wife of 64 years Opal Lois Ferguson and four children son, Greg and wife Teresa, daughter, Cynthia, son, Robert Jr. and wife, Kim and daughter, Michelle and John Ward; nine grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. Two surviving siblings sister, Barbara Greischar and youngest brother, Jimmie Ferguson and wife, Sue and a host of nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by a brother, Donald Ferguson. Robert served his country in WWII and Korean War and exited with an honorable discharge with numerous medals of Honor. He graduated from Kansas State College with a bachelor of science in Civil Engineering in 1951. He retired from the Union Pacific Railroad in 1986 after 30 plus years of service. Robert will be remembered as a man of many stories and lots of laughter. He found a teaching moment in everything he did. He loved his wife, his family and life. Funeral service at 1 p.m., Saturday, March 22, 2014 at Roller-Owens Funeral Home, 5509 John F. Kennedy Blvd. North Little Rock, Ark. 72116 (501-791-7400) with Reverend Gerry Claybrook officiating. Interment will follow at Rest Hills Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m., Friday, March 21, 2014 at the funeral home.
