Nelle Virginia (Coats) Wessels

Nelle Virginia (Coats) Wessels, 82, of Edmond, Okla. passed away March 20, 2014 and will be laid to rest on Monday March 24, 2014. She was born to Miles Coats and Annie H. Von Tungeln on August 20, 1931 in Rison, Ark. She married Robert Wessels on September 3, 1955 in Pine Bluff, Ark. Throughout her life, she worked for several years as a bookkeeper for a credit union and later as a tax consultant for 15 years. Nelle was involved in working with the Cub and Girl Scouts. She also loved to sew, work puzzles and do crafts, as well as being an avid book reader. She is survived by her husband, Robert; stepson, John Flemmons of McGehee, Ark.; daughters, Barbara Ann Seeger of Round Rock, Texas and Karen Sue Kapka of Warr Acres, Okla.; sister, Anna Bess Westerfield of Pine Bluff, Ark.; six grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. A formal visitation will be 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday, March 23, 2014 at Matthews Funeral Home. Services will be held 10 a.m. Monday March 24, 2014 at the Holy Trinity Lutheran Church with interment to follow at Gracelawn Cemetery in Edmond. Services are under the direction of Matthews Funeral Home, Edmond, Okla.
