Lurline T. Thompson

El Dorado, AR, 1921 - 2014

Lurline T. Thompson, 93, of El Dorado, passed away Sunday, March 9, 2014 at the Medical Center of South Arkansas. She was born on Jan. 28, 1921 in New London, Ark. to Sam S. and Nora Ethma Norris Turbeville. Lurline was a loving, caring and devoted mother and grandmother whose children and grandchildren were the joy of her life.
Lurline received her degree from Ouachita Baptist University. Lurline was a former school teacher at Urbana and Yocum Elementary. A hardworking and dedicated business woman, she was a secretary treasurer and office manager for Frank Thompson Transport for many years. She was a member of the Pilot Club, Daughters of American Revolution and First United Methodist Church. Lurline had a sweet and kind nature.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 37 years, Frank H. Thompson Sr.; her parents; and a brother, William Bryant "Screwdriver" Turbeville.
She is survived by son, Frank H. Thompson Jr. of El Dorado; and daughters, Carolyn Orr and Celia Thompson, both of North Little Rock. She is also survived by grandchildren, Artie (Trey) Gregory III, Jason Joseph Haas, Matthew Elliott Orr, Nora Katherine Orr, and Samuel Hodge Thompson.
Visitation was held Monday, March 10 at Young's Funeral Directors.
Funeral services were held Tuesday, March 11 in the chapel of Young's Funeral Directors with Rev. Keith Dodson officiating. Interment was in Arlington Memorial Park under the direction of Young's Funeral Directors.
