Michael Edward Daly

Captain Michael Edward Daly, 29, of Mountain Home AFB, Idaho died on March 19, 2014. Captain Daly was preceded in death by his grandparents Thomas and Clare Daly of North Conway, New Hampshire, and Thomas and Donna Brune of North Little Rock, Arkansas, and an uncle, David Brune, of Alexander, Arkansas. He is survived by his parents, Colonel (Ret) John and Donna Daly of Papillion, Nebraska; a sister, Jennifer Daly of Leavenworth, Kansas, and many aunts, uncles, and cousins. Captain Daly was born December 28, 1984 in Landstuhl, Germany. Being a part of a military family, he lived in Illinois, Rhode Island, Arkansas, North Carolina, Virginia, Texas and Nebraska. He attended Cooper High School, Abilene, Texas and graduated from Bellevue West High School and University of Nebraska, Omaha. He received his commission as an Officer in the United States Air Force in December, 2009 and served as an Aircraft Maintenance Officer at Holloman AFB, New Mexico and Mountain Home AFB, Idaho. During his career he supported deployments to Kuwait, Turkey, and Italy. The leadership at Holloman AFB awarded him the Lance P. Sijan Award for Leadership, the Leo Marquez Award, and the Maintenance Professional of the Year for 2013. Captain Daly, an avid sportsman, played basketball, baseball and track during high school. He was an Eagle Scout. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping, snow skiing and traveling. Prayer service will be held Friday, March 28, 2014 at North Little Rock Funeral Home, 1921 Main St. North Little Rock, at 7 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, North Little Rock, at 10 a.m. on Saturday, March 29, 2014. Burial with military honors will follow at Rest Hills Memorial Park, North Little Rock, Arkansas. Online obituary at www.SmithFamilyCares.com.
