Carol Carter Wright

Carol Carter Wright, age 92 years, of Fayetteville, Ark., passed away Friday, May 2, 2014. She was born Dec. 1, 1921 in Fillmore County, Minn., to parents, Deane G. Carter and Gladys (Garton) Carter. She attended Fayetteville schools, and participated in Girl Scouts, earning the Golden Eaglette Award. After high school she continued her education at the University of Arkansas earning a Bachelor's Degree, then she attended the University of Oklahoma where she earned a Master's Degree in Library Science. She worked as a librarian at Fayetteville Public Library as well as Sioux City, Iowa Public Library, then finally became the Director of Ozarks Regional Library System from 1968-1986. Carol also served her country in the United States Navy during World War II, earning the rank of Specialist "T" First Class. She is preceded in death by her parents; and one brother, Lauren Carter. She is survived by four children, son, Paul Wright, of Bethel Heights, Ark.; son, Steve Wright and wife Carol, of Boulder, Colo.; daughter, Gail McWhorter and husband Rick, of Fayetteville, Ark.; and son, David Wright, of Jonesboro, Ark.; brother, Paul Carter and wife Maryann, of Hammond, Ind.; and six grandchildren, Jason Fernandes, of Memphis, Tenn., Chris Wright and wife Brandy, of Benton, Ark., Stephanie Wright, of Boulder, Colo., Jeffrey McWhorter and wife Melinda, of Farmington, Ark., David McWhorter and wife Rachel, of Little Rock, Ark., and Kate Spears and husband J.J. of Springdale, Ark.; as well as seven great-grandchildren, Stella, Aubree, Nathan, James, Jasper, Charlie, and Annabelle.
