Shirley Holmes (Collatt)

Shirley Holmes (Collatt), 78, passed away on Friday, May 2, 2014 at her home in Haskell/Benton, Ark. She was born on May 17, 1935 in Haskell, Ark. to the late Roy and Lillian (Smart) Collatt. Shirley was preceded in death by her husband Bill Holmes, in January 2010. They were happily married for over 54 years. Shirley is survived by her daughters, Suzy Holmes Gatti (husband Joe), Janann Holmes Johnson (husband John); one granddaughter, Anna Gatti; two grandsons, James (Jimmy) Hensley and Joseph Gatti. Shirley was a long time member of Mt. Harmony Missionary Baptist Church. She enjoyed writing letters and sending birthday cards to her many special friends as well as sewing, cooking and spoiling her grandkids. She worked for many years for Southwestern Bell Telephone Company. The family would like to give a special thank you to Shirley's caregivers Becky, Dedra, Heather and Baptist Hospice (especially Dee Dee, Shirley and Liz), and all the family and friends that sent cards and visited during her long battle with Alzheimer's. A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, May 6, 2014 at Ashby Funeral Home in Benton at 2 p.m. with Pastor Greg Spann officiating, and burial will follow at Mt. Harmony Cemetery.
