Ovie Melvin Snyder

Ovie Melvin Snyder, 76, of Helena, Arkansas was born September 10, 1936 to Ovie Milton Snyder and Reba Agnes Travis Snyder. He married Patsy James Snyder July 15, 1956 for 57 years, 9 1/2 months. Children, Michael R. Snyder & Timothy M. Snyder. He was in business over 52 years. Started out as a used car dealer in 1962. A little later he added wrecker service and continued until his death. Melvin was a 32 degree Mason and was a former President of the Helena Shrine Club, He worked very hard for the Crippled Children's Hospital in Shreveport, La. and the Burn Unit in Houston, Texas. He was very outgoing and respected by his customers and friends. He will be missed by many. Melvin is survived by his wife, Patsy; sons, Michael (Sandy) Snyder, West Helena and Timothy (Leslie) Snyder, Lexa; grandchildren, MJ (Lorry) Snyder, Austin, Texas, Krystal (Dave) Nelson, Greensboro, N.C., Matthew (Alydia) Snyder. Jackson, Tenn., Ashley (Derek) Campbell, Hendersonville, Tenn., Betsy Snyder (Paul, Dilks), Fayetteville, Ark., Christian Snyder, West Helena; great-grandchildren, Jach Snyder, Carter Goss, Aiden Snyder, Ava Snyder. also survived by sister, Lola Powell, Newport, Ark., Dorothy Sanders, Memphis, Tenn. and Doris Ferguson, Dover, Ohio. Services will be Wednesday, May 7, 2014 at Roller-Citizens Chapel at 2 p.m. Burial will follow at Sunset Memorial Park. Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. Tuesday, May 6, 2014 also at the Chapel.
