John B. Johnson was born August 4, 1926 in Emmet, Arkansas. He was preceded in death by his parents, Ethel Nichols Johnson and John B. Johnson, his wife of 54 years, Virginia Ann Windle Johnson, two sisters, Mildred Sanders, Lucille Johnson and a grandson, Drew Burrow. Mr. Johnson is survived by his three daughters, Terri Erwin and husband Chuck, Barbara Taylor and husband Rick and Denise Petersen and husband Steve and five grandchildren, Marisa Ann and Clayton Erwin; Laura-Taylor, Garrett and Mary-Katherine Burrow. Mr. Johnson grew up in Emmet, Arkansas and attended Emmet High School. He enlisted in the United States Navy at age seventeen in 1944 where he served for two years. He attended Little Rock Junior College for two years and graduated in 1948. He then attended the University of Arkansas at Fayetteville for two years and graduated in 1950 with a Bachelor of Science. He was a member of Delta Sigma Phi Fraternity. Mr. Johnson went to work for General Motors Acceptance Corporation in 1951 and worked there until 1982. It was at General Motors where he met and then married the love of his life, Virginia Ann Windle Johnson and they were married in 1952. He retired from General Motors Acceptance Corporation in 1982. Mr. Johnson joined the Magnolia Masonic Lodge #60 F&AM in 1948. He held many offices in the organization. He served as Worshipful Master in 1957 and served as Treasurer for eighteen years. He and his wife, Virginia, joined Oak Forest Methodist Church in 1955 and were members there for 50 years. In 2005, they joined Trinity United Methodist Church and were active members of the Open Door Sunday School Class. Mr. Johnson and his wife loved to travel and traveled extensively in Europe and throughout the United States having made numerous trips to Europe. He and his wife also loved spending time with their many friends. His family was the joy of his life. An added joy and comfort to Mr. Johnson's later years was his special friend, June Miller. Most importantly, John B. Johnson excelled in loving his family as a husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle and as a trusted, caring and loyal friend to so many. He was a fine example to us all on how we should lead our lives. Mr. Johnson's daughters and family will host a visitation and celebration of his life on Thursday, May 8th from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. at 17 Glenridge Road, Little Rock, Arkansas. Funeral services will be held on Friday, May 9th at 11 a.m. at Trinity United Methodist Church, 1101 North Mississippi, Little Rock, Arkansas. The service will be followed by a burial at Rest Hills Memorial Park, 7724 Landers Road, North Little Rock, Arkansas. Memorials may be made to the Magnolia Masonic Lodge #60 F&M, P.O.
