Bonnie Sue Wicker Ledbetter Christmas passed into the heavenly kingdom of God on May 7, 2014 at her home in Fordyce. Bonnie was born October 5, 1928 in Nashville, Ark. to Jessie and Clyde Wicker. Bonnie was preceded in death by her parents, her first husband and father of her children, Harry Sturgis Ledbetter and her second husband, Don C. Christmas, and daughter-in-law, Marilyn Corso Ledbetter. Bonnie is survived by her children; Harry W. (Skip) Ledbetter, Charles David Ledbetter (Sylvia) and Susie Ledbetter Matkin (Ronnie) all of Fordyce. She is also survived by six grandchildren; Chris Ledbetter (Joann) of Southaven, Miss., Skip Ledbetter, Jr. of Memphis, Tenn., Justin Richie of North Little Rock, Brooklyn Tanner (Rich) of Newport, and Clara and Clark Matkin of Fordyce; five great-grandchildren; two sisters, Barbara Walston of Little Rock and Betty Davis of Murfreesboro, Ark. and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins all of whom she dearly loved. She graduated from Nashville High School and attended Henderson State Teachers College (now HSU) where she met and fell in love with Harry Ledbetter. Bonnie was retired from 1st National Bank (now Regions Bank). She was an active member of First Baptist Church of Fordyce until her declining health left her unable to attend. She was a past member of the Sesame Club and Business and Professional Women's Club where she served as president and in various other capacities. She was an accomplished seamstress and wonderful cook and made hand written cookbooks for her three kids in 1989, which are cherished. She loved to cross-stitch and won several blue ribbons for her works of art. The family would like to extend sincere thanks to Arkansas Hospice, Tammy Owens and Tammy Poss, and to Charlotte Brinkley and Nina Clements for the loving care they provided. Visitation will be Sunday May 11, 2014 at Benton Funeral Home. Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Monday May 12, 2014 at the Benton Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Rusty Ross officiating. Nephews and grand-nephews will serve as pallbearers. Burial will follow at Oakland Cemetery. In lieu of Flowers, memorials may be made to First Baptist Church, 501 N. Main, Fordyce, Ark. 71742.
