Roland P. Womack, 90, of Hot Springs passed peacefully into eternity at his home on Friday, May 16, 2014. He was born on Sept. 30, 1923 to the late Granville and Octavia Womack in Murfreesboro, Ark. Roland was the fourth of six brothers. The other five, Hollis, Ray, Clark, Paul and Max all preceded him in death. He is survived by his ‘grandson', Trevor Lewin; one sister-in-law; several nieces and nephews; and half a county of cousins. After high school, Roland moved to California where he completed Business College, then returned to Arkansas years later as the business manager for Red Crawford's auto dealership in Glenwood. He later traveled extensively across the United States as a bank auditor and eventually settled in St. Louis where he met his longtime companion and business partner, Glenn Targhetta. The two of them opened several businesses and eventually established a reputable antique store in the St. Louis area, which they kept until they retired and moved to Hot Springs. Roland was a devout member of the Church of Christ and rarely missed a Sunday until recent years. He was well loved and had a special way of making others feel welcome and important. He will always be remembered fondly for his dapper dress, his humorous conversations and his remarkable ability of exaggerated story telling. Roland has requested no formal service and no flowers. Memorials may be made to his church, National Park Church of Christ, 320 Lakeshore Dr, Hot Springs, Ark. 71913. His interment will be in Benld, Illinois. Guest may register at www.caruth-hale.com.
