MR. RONALD EDWARD JOHNSON, 60, of Little Rock, passed away on April 4, 2014. He leaves to cherish his memory: Hope, his loving, devoted wife of 36 years and Sean Patrick, his admiring and loving son both of Little Rock; his loving parents, Mary Ann Underwood of Las Vegas, Nev. and Edward (Phyllis) Johnson of White Hall, Ark.; his brother, Phillip (Angie) Johnson; sisters, Tammie Payton, Jacqueline Johnson all of Los Angeles, Calif.; sister, Joyce Marie Johnson, Roanoke, Ala.; step-brothers, Bernard Johnson, Gregory Johnson, Gerald Williams; and step-sister, Nina Johnsona; father-in-law, Thomas Vaughns (who was like a father); a sister-in-law, Spring Vaughns (who was like a sister) both of White Hall; Byron Vaughns, a brother-in-law of Los Angeles, Calif.; and Walter Johnson, an uncle (who was like a brother) of Pine Bluff; many nieces, nephews, cousins and an extended church family. He was predeceased by his loving adoptive grandparents, Felton and Roberta Johnson; and a mother-in-law, Luvada Vaughns (who was like a mother). Ron graduated from Altheimer High School in 1972. He received the Bachelor of Science with a major in Sociology from Ouachita Baptist University in 1977. Ron had an illustrious career of more than 30 years with the State of Arkansas, Department of Human Services. He was most recently employed as a Marketing and Community Specialist with the TANF Unit, Division of Workforce Services. A minister since the age of 15, Ron served as an associate minister at Longley Baptist Church and at St. Mark Baptist Church, Little Rock. Ron will be remembered for his quiet demeanor, acts of generosity and desire to live peaceably with all people. His presence will be deeply missed by family, friends, neighbors and colleagues everywhere. A service will be held to celebrate Ron's life and honor his memory on Thursday, May 29, 2014, 1 p.m. at Longley Baptist Church, 9900 Geyer Springs Road, Little Rock, Ark. Following the service interment will take place at Cypress Memorial Gardens, Pine Bluff.
