George Olin Johnson

SMSgt. (ret.) George Olin Johnson's spirit left this earth on May 17, 2014. George was born in Forsyth, Ga. on June 13, 1929 to Henry Cleon & Artie Johnson. He was preceded in death by his parents, his brothers; Horace, Marion, Lewis and a sister, Lucy Rogers. George was a generous & loving family man who will be missed greatly by his wife of almost 62 years, DeRue Branch Johnson, daughter, Jessica Bleichner (Randy), son, Olin and four grandsons; Steve Johnson (Traci) & their two daughters, Dustin Johnson, Matt (Andrea) Bleichner & Nate Bleichner. SMSgt. Johnson joined the Army Air Corp in 1948, 26 1/2 years later he retired from the Air Force. During this service he was a flight engineer on C130's with Little Rock AFB being his last assignment. After retiring from the Air Force, George was a founding member of South Bend Volunter Fire Department and served many years with them. He was a 32nd degree Mason in the Grand Lodge of Texas for more than 50 years. SMSgt. Johnson's request of no memorial service will be honored. Instead he asked that he be remembered with donations to Children's Hospital or Arkansas Hospice Foundation.
