John H. Quackenbush

JOHN H. QUACKENBUSH, 76, of Sherwood, passed away Friday, May 23, 2014. He was born Nov. 29, 1937 in Bedford, Ind. to the late Harry and Hattie (Hardman) Quackenbush. John was also preceded in death by his brother, Delmar; and sister, Mary. John was a retired veteran of the United States Marine Corps and served three tours in Vietnam. He came to Little Rock as a Marine Corps recruiter and decided to make Arkansas his home. John held various jobs in outside sales. He enjoyed traveling and spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren. John will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him. John is survived by his loving wife, Mariem Quackenbush; three daughters, Christine Hollon (Mark) of Grapevine, Texas, Stacey Jackson (Steve) of Sherwood, Ark., and Dara Quackenbush (Doug) of Wimberley, Texas; sister, Grace Optekar (Peter) of Idaho; and four grandchildren, Zachary Hulett (Stephanie), Kelsey, Allison, and Lauren Maynard. A graveside service will be held at a later date at Arkansas State Veterans Cemetery. The family would like to express a special thanks to the staff at Central Arkansas Veterans Health Care System.
