William Fay Mathews, age 73 of Sherwood passed away Monday, May 26, 2014 at the VA Fort Roots Hospital. He was born June 21, 1940 to the late William O. Mathews and Lila Foster. Bill was preceded in death by his parents; and grandson, Christopher Dunlap Bill served his Country proudly in the U. S. Air Force and served in Vietnam from 1964 to 1965. Bill was a member of First Presbyterian Church of Jacksonville and Vietnam Veterans Association. He retired in 2005 with 22 years with the United Methodist Children Home. He is survived by his wife Pam Mathews of Sherwood; two daughters, Tena Mullinax (Johnny) of Benton and Barbara Hulett of Sherwood; four sons, Tony Mathews of Bentonville, Jeff Sharp (Pam) of Little Rock, Chris Sharp (Elba) of Mabelvale, and Jimmy Gill of Jefferson; seven grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; four brothers, Andy Mathews (Debbie) of Bonanza, AR, Mike Deford, Dave Deford and William Mathews all of Wichita, KS; six sisters, Joan Sanders, Ann Marie Mathews, Barbara Mathews, Connie Mathews, Lee Mathews and Fay Mathews all of Wichita, Kan. Funeral service will be at 12 noon, Thursday, May 29 at Roller-Owens Funeral Home Chapel, 5509 John F. Kennedy Blvd., North Little Rock, Ark. 72116 (501-791-7400). Interment will follow at Edgewood Memorial Park. The family will receive friends at 11 a.m. at the funeral home.
