Barbara Nell Quattlebaum Hefner was born in Floyd, Arkansas, on September 17, 1931, to John and Luda (Stracener) Quattlebaum and went to be with the Lord on May 27, 2014. She was preceded in death by her infant son, Michael, son, Gary, great-grandson, Blake Kurck, brother, EuDonald and her husband of 62 years, Bill. She is survived by her daughter, Patti Mathis and her husband Gary and their family, her grandson, Aaron and his wife Missy, their children, Gage and Macey; and her grandson Jared, all of Beebe; daughter-in-law, Debbie Hefner, granddaughter, Shelly McIntyre, great-grandsons, Chris McIntyre and Mikey Kurck of Beebe and granddaughter, Nikki Rippy (Mark) and great-grandchildren, Lilly and Ryan, all of Searcy. She is also survived by her sister, Marian Webb of Beebe and sister-in-law, Eloise Quattlebaum of Searcy and her Hefner family, Vernell Edwards, Mattie Ruth Fisher (Jim), Jerrell Hefner and Dale Hefne rall of Beebe; Carthel Hefner of McCrory and Brewer Hefner (Billie Jo) of Searcy. Barbara was a teacher, spending most of her teaching years in the Beebe School System. She retired in 1986, after 31 years of dedicated service. She truly felt her life's calling was to be a teacher and it was very evident in her classrooms and in the library. Barb was a very positive person and an inspiring Christian example. She loved books and reading, instilling that love in many of her students. Most of all, she loved her family. She was a beloved wife, mother and Mam and we will miss her every day but we are blessed with the love and treasured memories she gave us. Memorials may be made to the Antioch Community Church, 2060 Highway 31 North, Beebe, Arkansas 72012 or The Beebe Public Education Foundation, 1201 West Center, Beebe, Arkansas 72012. Family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Westbrook Funeral Home, Beebe. Funeral will be 10 a.m. Friday, May 30, 2014, at the Antioch Community Church with burial in Antioch Cemetery.
