Roger Monet Morin

Roger Morin, age 79, was born March 29, 1935, and died Tuesday, May 27, 2014 at John L McClellan Memorial Veterans Hospital, Little Rock, Arkansas, after a lengthy illness. Roger was born in Waterbury, Connecticut and was a graduate at Southern Connecticut University with a degree in Engineering. He was an Airman in the Air Force during the Korean War, serving at Harlingen AFB, Harlingen, Texas. Roger was licensed to fly single and multi-engine aircraft. After dutifully serving his country, Roger came home and began his career in various managerial and executive positions in businesses such as Alcoa Aluminum and The Vendo Company. While serving as President of JE Messenger in Newport, Arkansas, Roger's health forced him into early retirement. This retirement brought him to his beloved Greers Ferry Lake, and the lake house he called home for 36 years. Roger chose this area of the country because he felt it was the most beautiful place in the world. Once in the Tannenbaum Community, Roger involved himself in several entrepreneurial endeavors. He also spent countless hours enjoying Saturday breakfasts with his flying buddies, boating, entertaining and celebrating life with his many friends. He also served as Deacon and Elder of the First Presbyterian Church of Greers Ferry, Arkansas. Roger is preceded in death by his mother and father, Harold and Simonne (Robitaille) Morin; one brother, Raymond L Morin; one step-brother, Lawerence "Sonny" Gingras; and two step-sisters, Lorraine Gringras Carini and Shirley Gringras Foucault. He is survived by his wife of 40 years, Patricia "Trish" Johnson Morin; three children: Wendy Rae of Conway, James Christopher Morin of Rogers, and Jennifer Morin (John) Gurley of Maumelle; one step-brother, Tommy Gringras; two granddaughters, Tara and Emily Rhoda; and a host of family and many friends. The family wishes to express particular gratitude to the medical staff at the Myeloma Institute at UAMS, the MICU staff and the Hospice and Palliative Care Unit Staff at the Veterans Hospital. The care and service he received was exceptional.
