William Houston Sams

William Houston "Dub" Sams, age 79, of Arkadelphia, formerly of Marlow, Okla., died Thursday, November 6, 2014. He was born December 16, 1934 the son of Marshall and Hester Sams. Dub was a life member of the Professional Rodeo Cowboys of America and traveled and lived in many states before settling in Marlow. He was also a licensed farrier. He had a mini-ranch with full sized rodeo arena where he trained cowboys to ride competitively. He was a member of the Glory Bound Church in Marlow, Okla. He was preceded in death by his wife Dawn and a daughter, Vanessa Sams. He is survived by one son, Ken Houston Sams, one daughter, Sherry Sams Tackle, two sisters, Hazel Simpson and her husband Orville of Hot Springs and Gladys "Gigi" Givens and her husband Max of Arkadelphia, one niece and three nephews. A private graveside service will be held in the Ouachita Cemetery near Donaldson with Pastor David woods officiating.
