E. C. Hardin, Jr.

E.C. "Ned" Hardin Jr., 96 of Grady died Monday at his home. He was born March 21, 1918 in Grady to the late E.C. Sr. and Josephine Ryall Hardin. Mr. Hardin was a founding member of the Grady Lion's Club, was appointed Revenue Agent in December of 1954 by then Governor, Orval Faubus, was on the Grady School Board and the County School Board, was on the Draft Board, was a member of the Grady Hunting Camp on Big Island, and was Lincoln County Circuit Clerk for 22 years. He also served in the Army, attended Gulfport Military Academy and went to Business School in Tyler, Texas for two years. Mr. Hardin was also preceded in death by his wife, Sara Hunter Hardin and a sister, Evelyn Allmon. Survivors include two sons, Ed and Brenda Hardin and Randy and Debbie Hardin, all of Grady; four grandchildren, Rodney Hardin, Jody Hardin, Josh Hardin and Jennifer Hardin; four great-grandchildren, Garret Hardin, Landon Hardin, Sara Hardin and Miriam Hardin; two great great-grandchildren, Caroline Hardin and Hudson Hardin; and niece, Lynn Smith. The family would like to give a special thanks to the home hospice nurses and special caregiver, Christine Vitchers. Funeral Services are 2 p.m. Thursday at Griffin Funeral Service with Bro. Lee Zuehlke and Mrs. Katherine Keahey officiating. Visitation is 1-2 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home. Burial at Grady Cemetery. Pallbearers are Rodney Hardin, Jody Hardin, Josh Hardin, Garret Hardin, Landon Hardin and Curly Mejia. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Grady United Methodist Church, 809 S.
