Alan Cole Springer, 89, of Hot Springs, Ark. passed away Friday, Nov. 7, 2014. He was born in Rochester, N.Y. on June 24, 1925. He served his country in both World War II and the Korean War. In World War II, he fought in both the Battles of Iwo Jima and Okinawa. Cole was predeceased by his father and mother, Walter Springer and Leona Springer; a sister, Barbara Springer Spurlock and a daughter, Stephany Ann Springer Kincaid. Cole is survived by four children: Sue Smith of Forrest City, Deborah Bethuel Bevill (husband, Bernie) of Pinnacle, Alan Springer (wife, Brandy) of Hot Springs, Kevin Springer (fiancée, Lynn) of Fayetteville. He also leaves behind 16 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his loyal caregiver, Dessie Adams; wife, Sarah Ruth Wright Springer,and step-children, Warren & Dana Fugate. The family asks that you make donations to either the Permanently Disabled Jockeys Fund or the St. Jude Children's Research Hospital. Arrangements are by Hot Springs Funeral Home.
