Hardy L. McKinstry, age 79, of Banks, formerly of Wilmar, went to be with his Lord Monday, November 17, 2014 at his home in Banks after a battle with lung cancer. He was born March 11, 1935 in Drew County, Ark. to the late Bernice Wright McKinstry and Dorothy Daniels McKinstry of Wilmar. Hardy was a devout Christian, family man, loving husband, father and grandfather, retired postmaster and United States Army Veteran of the Korean War. He was a member of Green Hill Community Baptist Church and was attending First United Methodist Church of Warren where he was a member of the Fisherman's Sunday School Class. He was also a former Monticello Parks Commission member and volunteer fireman for the Green Hill Fire Department. He loved being with his family and playing games with them along with taking trips to his favorite places which included Branson, MO and Silver Dollar City. Hardy's other hobbies included fishing, camping, hunting, dancing and watching RFD-TV. As his children described him, "He was the best Pops in the whole world." In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by his first wife, Janice Cockrell McKinstry of Wilmar and a brother, Dan McKinstry of Little Rock. Survivors include his wife, Liz McKinstry of Banks; a daughter, Cindy McKinstry of Little Rock; two sons, Tim McKinstry (Ashley) of Hector and Tony McKinstry (Jennifer) of Springdale; a sister, Shirley Burks of Wilmar; stepdaughters, Colleen Watkins (Perry) of Banks, Stacey Boyette (Brad) of Coral Springs, Fla., and Dana Bugbee (Trent) of Destin, Fla.; four grandchildren, Hannah Trigg (Josh) of Russelleville, Nick McKinstry of Hector, Zac and Alex McKinstry both of Springdale; 10 step-grandchildren, eleven step great grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews. Funeral service will be 1 p.m. Wednesday at Stephenson-Dearman Chapel with burial in Green Hill Cemetery. Visitation 6-8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
