Wilbert Gibson

Wilbert "Bill" Gibson, 79, of Hot Springs Village, Arkansas died November 18, 2014. He was born in DeWitt, Arkansas on September 24, 1935 to John Gibson and Bernice Holly. They preceded him in death. He was a Retired Technical Sergeant of the United States Air Force after serving twenty years. A former employee of for Allstate Insurance and opened his own agency from 1981-1992. He later moved to Memphis, Tennessee and organized and was president of the Burlington Area Neighborhood Association in Memphis. He was a member and deacon of Living Waters Church of God in Christ. Bill was a member of the Hot Springs Village Kiwanis Club, served as vice president and held the position of president. He was an active volunteer at the Jackson House, Meals on Wheels and American Legion. He is the author of the book Scratching for Daylight. Survivors include his wife, Annie M. Gibson of Hot Springs Village, Ark.; his children, David Gibson of Philadelphia, Pa., Damon Willis (Yashira) of Atlanta, Ga., Andrew Jackson of Benton, Ark., Julius Jackson of Cordova, Tenn., Ashley Gibson of Sacramento, Calif., Mary Jackson of Cordova, TN, Damara Harbin (Timothy) of Clarksville, Ark., and Cheryl Buford of Riverside, Calif.; Siblings, Sandra Mallory (Joseph) of Detroit, MI, Cornelius Brown of San Francisco, Calif. and Ernest Thomason of St. Louis, Mo.; 15 grandchildren, four great-grandchildren, his godchildren, a host of extended family, friends and a great church family. Funeral Service: Monday, 10 a.m., Living Waters Church of God in Christ 306 Groove Street, Hot Springs. Burial: Monday 1 p.m. in Arkansas State Veterans Cemetery full military honors.
