Glenda Dudley "Charlie" Johnson, age 79, of White Hall, completed her earthly journey on Friday, No. 21, 2014 surrounded by her children. Charlie was born August 16, 1935 in Newport, Ark. to Helen DeLoach Dudley and Clarence Everett Dudley. She graduated from Newport High School and Arkansas State University, obtaining a Bachelor's Degree in English and Music. Charlie was an accomplished and gifted musician. She taught private piano lessons for many years and also served as organist for Hardin, Lee Memorial, and Second Baptist Churches for a number of years. A countless amount of her time was devoted as Youth Director at Second Baptist and Central Presbyterian Church, where she was the accompanist for "The Rainbow Express". She loved working with young people, and was an inspiration to many through her Gospel and Christian music. An avid reader, Charlie would often read throughout an entire night. Her greatest love and joy was her family. She loved listening to her children sing and gathering around the piano during the Christmas Holidays. An active member of White Hall United Methodist Church, Charlie was currently the director of the adult handbell choir. She was very involved in the music program and the Day-by-Day support group. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a son, Charles Dudley "Chuck" Johnson; and a grandson, John Dudley "Caleb" Johnson. Survivors include her son, Franklin H. "Beaver" Johnson II and wife Debbie; her daughters, Debbie Jane Johnson and Mary Catherine Johnson Skillen and husband Jay, all of White Hall; her sister, Viki Brown and her niece, Robyn Turner, both of Ocean Springs, Miss.; along with her adored grandsons, Trey Johnson and wife Ashton, Joshua Skillen, R. D. Johnson and wife Morgan, Jordan Skillen, and Thomas Johnson. She also leaves behind nieces and nephews, along with many other loving family and friends, There will be a Memorial Service celebrating Charlie's life at 6 p.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 25, 2014 at White Hall United Methodist Church. Her family will great friends following the service. Memorials are requested to "Caleb's Climb" at White Hall United Methodist Church, 300 Church Street, White Hall, Ark. 71602 or the church music ministry. The family will gather at the home of Beaver and Debbie Johnson, 1120 Heartwood Street in White Hall. Arrangements are by Fuller Hale-South Funeral Services of Pine Bluff.
