ALICE AMMA SPANN, born Dec. 10, 1926, in Clarendon, Ark., daughter of Admiral Dewey Deaton and Jewell Leon Deaton, went to meet her late husband, L.D. in heaven on Friday, Oct. 3, 2014. Mrs. Spann was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She was preceded in death by her parents; her brother, Franklin Deaton; her sister, Elizabeth Deaton Ward and her beloved L.D., her husband of sixty-four years. She is survived by one son, David R. (Randy) Spann and his wife, Janice, of Conway; and two daughters, Annette Dumas Leonard and her husband, Don, of Little Rock; and Kathy Blalack Snipes and her husband, Gene, of Fort Mill, S.C.; 13 grandchildren: Stephanie Spann Harris, Aaron Spann, David Spann, Barry Craiglow, Wesley Craiglow, Lance Dumas, Shannon Dumas Frazier, Scott Dumas, Geremiah Leonard, Hannah Blalack, Julie Blalack, Gregg Snipes, and Angie Snipes Fulmer; 25 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild. Alice and L.D. were members of Tyler Street Baptist Church for many years. Last year she became a member of Pleasant Valley Church of Christ. For the past nine years she has been a resident of Presbyterian Village, where she received exceptional love and care. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Presbyterian Village in her memory. Visitation will be held at Griffin Leggett Healey & Roth Funeral Home from 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 5, with graveside services on Monday, Oct. 6 in Pine Crest Cemetery at 2 p.m.
