WILLIAM CLYDE "BILL" DAWSON, 78, of Little Rock passed away at his home on Oct. 9, 2014 surrounded by family. He was preceded in death by his parents, Clyde and Mary Aileen Ray Dawson; his sister, Nancy Jean Skipper; and his nephews, Ricky and Jimmy Skipper. Bill grew up in Little Rock and graduated from Little Rock High School, and later from the University of Arkansas School of Architecture. He served in the Air Force Reserves for eight years and was a member of the American Institute of Architects. He was an architect at Little Rock's Cromwell Architects & Engineers for over 30 years. Bill loved baseball, gardening, birding, travel and especially spending time with his family and precious grandchildren. He was an active member of St. James United Methodist Church, and Margaret and he were highly blessed in being part of the Saturday evening worship there. His involvement with the Silver Sneakers group was a source of much enjoyment as well. He is survived by his wife of 47 years, Margaret; his son, Michael (Stephanie) of Dallas; his son, Stephen (Cathy) of Little Rock; and his grandchildren (Elizabeth and Andrew); his niece, Renee Sears of Jacksonville; his nephew, John Lipscomb of West Chester, Ohio; his niece, Margaret Page of England; his sister-in-law, Rose Lipscomb of England, as well as long-time friends, Dave and Marlene Stuff and Joan Matthews. The family would like to extend special thanks to their St. James family; the Chevaux neighborhood community; countless friends; Drs. Liudmila Schafer and Sarah Harrington of UAMS and their staff in the Rockefeller Cancer Institute, and also to the staff of Hospice Home Services of Little Rock. A memorial service will be held at St. James United Methodist Church on Monday, Oct. 13 at 10 a.m., to be followed by a reception in the church. The family asks, that in lieu of flowers, a donation be made to the SHARE Fund at St. James. Arrangements by Little Rock Funeral Home, 8801 Knoedl Ct., (501)224-2200.
