Richard C. "Dick" Bright

Mr. Richard C. "Dick" Bright age 89, of Prescott, Arkansas passed away Sunday, October 12, 2014, at Christus St. Michaels Hospital in Texarkana, Texas. He was born February 22, 1925, in Abilene, Texas to Brad and Allene Phillips Bright. During World War II, Dick served his country in the Army Air Corp as an aircraft mechanic in the European Theater. Public service was of utmost importance to him, and following his military duty, he served as Nevada County Treasurer for 8 years. In 1965, he was instrumental in the development of the Nevada County Hospital where he became administrator for 22 years until his retirement. During his tenure as administrator, he was an original board member of the Tri-State Shared Service Organization assisting 23 hospitals in Northeast Texas and Southwest Arkansas. As an active member of the Arkansas Hospital Association, he was treasurer of the Southwest District. He later served as Prescott City Councilman for 12 years. Accolades include being named Prescott/Nevada County Citizen of the Year and Treasure of Gold. He was a member of the Prescott First Baptist Church. Mr. Bright was preceded in death by his parents. Mr. Bright is survived by his wife of 62 years, Joyce Massey Bright, two sons, Scott Bright of Prescott, Arkansas and Blake Bright and wife Tracy of Texarkana, Arkansas, sister Joann May and husband Gaylan of Hope, Arkansas, two granddaughters, Courtney Heigle and husband Josh, and Katie Bright and Fiancé Bradley McElyea, Step grandchildren, Meagan Winchell and Casey Winchell, three great-grandchildren, Bradley, Madison and Laynie. In Lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Prescott First Baptist Church, 201 East Main Street, Prescott, Arkansas 71857. Visitation for Mr. Bright will be 6 to 8 p.m., Tuesday, October 14, 2014, at Brazzel/Cornish Funeral Home in Prescott. Funeral service will be 10 a.m., Wednesday, October 15, 2014, at First Baptist Church in Prescott, Arkansas with Bro. Frank Henson and Rev. Jerry G.
