George Swift Fletcher Jr.

of Little Rock, AR, 1919 - 2014

Today we celebrate the life of George Swift Fletcher, Jr, age 95. He passed away peacefully at home on October 19. Born on January 26, 1919, he was the son of the late George and Mary Spearel Fletcher.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Eleanor Peiffer Fletcher; daughter, Judith Ann Hardage; and a sister, Barbara Cueman. Survivors include daughter, Lynn Fletcher Coats of Little Rock; grandchildren, Stacy Coats McClain (Chuck) of Batesville; Jamie Sue Coats Morrison (Jay) of Nashville, Tenn.; Beverly Hardage Parker (Brandon) of Lonoke and Jeffrey Hardage (Lisa) of Cabot. He is also survived by his great-grandchildren, Charlie, Zach, and Eleanor McClain; Jacob and Eva Morrison; and Gage, Preston, Bentley and Bliss Parker; nephew Glen Cueman of Davidson, N.C.; and whole host of friends and fellow bridge players.
George retired after 44 years as a State Marketing Representative for the Royal Insurance Agency and enjoyed three decades of retirement. He was a member of St. Paul United Methodist Church for 55 years and served as an Office Angel for the last 10. He was very active in his community, where he taught AARP Driver Safety for 31 years, enjoyed playing bridge in AARP Chapter 34 since 2006 and several other bridge clubs. He was a member of the Old Guard, a retired group of insurance agents. He was also a member of Treasured Friends from Fellowship Bible Church. His passions were bridge and traveling with his wife, but his most beloved occupation was that of a loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. He will be missed by all.
Funeral service will be at St. Paul United Methodist Church at 2 pm on Thursday, October 23. Visitation will be one hour before the service. A private burial at Pinecrest Memorial Park.
