Raymon Jerrell Hefner

Raymon Jerrell Hefner was born in Antioch, Arkansas on October 5, 1932, to Lonnie and Vela Hefner. Jerrell went home to his forever home with the Lord on October 21, 2014. Jerrell was a long-time member of the Antioch Baptist Church. Jerrell loved his church and over the years, served faithfully in many capacities, as deacon, Sunday school superintendent and Sunday school teacher. He was a member of the Calvary Baptist Association for over fifty years. He was an executive board member, he served as clerk, and it was said of him that during his years he had served on every committee there was. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Army. Jerrell retired from the Arkansas State Plant Board in 1987 after 27 years of service. He was the Assistant Director of the Feed, Fertilizer and Pesticide Division of the Arkansas State Plant Board. He was preceded in death by his parents; four brothers, Budge, Vernice, Dueward and Bill; one brother-in-law, J.W.; five sisters-in-law, Naomi, Bobbie, Mattie, Gladys and Barb. Jerrell is survived by two sisters, both from Beebe, Vernell Edwards and Mattie Ruth Fisher (Jim); three brothers, Carthel from McCrory, Brewer (Billy Jo) from Searcy, and Dale from Beebe; many nieces and nephews, other family members, a loving church family, and lots and lots of friends. Brother Jerrell, Uncle Jerrell, Friend Jerrell will be greatly missed until we see him again. His family wishes to thank from the bottoms of our hearts all of the many people that brought loving and gentle care and comfort to him during his illness. Family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Smith – Westbrook Funeral Home in Beebe. Funeral service will be 10 a.m. Friday, October 24, 2014, at the Antioch Community Church.
