Charles Raines Emerson of Sherwood passed away October 22, 2014. He was born June 16, 1936, to Mr. and Mrs. C.L. Emerson, both deceased. He accomplished much in his life¬as a teacher, coach, volunteer firefighter, master gardener, animal lover, and avid outdoorsman, as well as loving husband, father, and grandfather. He was a 1960 graduate of Arkansas State Teachers College (now University of Central Arkansas), Conway, and retired from security at St. Vincent Infirmary, Little Rock. Charles was awarded 2014 Volunteer of the Year from the Sherwood Citizens Police Academy Alumni Association that he dearly enjoyed serving with. His quiet, calm demeanor and sense of humor will be sorely missed by all those who loved him. He is survived by his wife, Patrice Clipp, of Sherwood and his son, LRFD Captain Albert Charles Emerson (Lori) and his children, Andrew "Drew" Charles Emerson, Kevin Moore, and Kara Moore. His extended family includes: Tamara Adkisson (Doug) and daughter, Hayley Adkisson; Gregory Clipp and son William Clipp; Clifford Clipp (Kim) and sons, Michael Lambeth, Cash and Trevor Clipp; and Lane Morgan Clipp. Charles was dearly loved and closely supported by his cousins: Jo Ruth Sparks (Bob) and children Sharon Davis and Robert Sparks Jr.; Frances Chaffin (Tom) and sons Raines, Charles, and Nathan Chaffin; J.W. "Buddy" Raines, and his daughters Jody Dennis, Laura Lee Mitchell, and Tammy Dean; Allen Raines, Jr. and his children Jaime Pearson, Suzanne White, and Allen Raines, III. A Visitation will be held at Griffin Leggett Rest Hills in Sherwood, Ark., on Saturday, October 25, 2014, from 3:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Little Rock Firefighters Scholarship Fund, 210 South Gaines Street, Little Rock, Ark. 72201. The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to Charles's supportive family, friends, and Hospice Home Care for the abundant love and care shown through his illness.
