He and Patty moved to Little Rock in 1970, after his daughters were grown, and finished his career after ABF. His CB "handle" was "Slow Joe". He drove the length and breadth of this country and the most beautiful place he said he ever saw was Glacier National Park. Patty and Joe moved back to Fort Smith in 2006. The last almost eight-years he spent at Methodist Health and rehab where they cared for him and spoiled him wonderfully.
