Aurther "Art" Lee Carpenter, age 72, of Benton, passed away on Thursday, Oct. 23, 2014 He was born on June 1, 1942 in Hot Springs, Ark., to Vernice and Mrytle Sanders Carpenter. He was a devoted family man who enjoyed making mosaics, working in the yard and restoring old cars, but shared his lifelong passion for horses and raised Foxtrotters with his adoring wife. Art is survived by his wife of 48 years, Andrea Carpenter along with his two daughters, Julie Ann McNutt of Lansing, Ill. and Jennie Lynn Henley and her husband, Ryan, of Benton. He is also survived by his grandchildren, Dylan and Olivia McNutt and Aiden and Ethan Henley; along with his sisters, Lucille DuVall and Sylvia Curnutt. Mr. Carpenter is preceded in death by his parents. A Celebration of life will be held at 10 a.m. on Monday, Oct. 27, 2014 in the chapel of Dial and Dudley Funeral Home in Bryant, (501) 847-9099. A visitation will start at 9 a.m., on the same day. The family has requested that in lieu of flowers donations be made to the MS society.
