Freida McArthur Harwood Sims

FREIDA MCARTHUR HARWOOD SIMS, of Little Rock, Ark., passed away on Oct. 26, 2014 at the age of 83. She was born in Marvell, Ark. Prior to moving to Little Rock, Mrs. Sims was a longtime resident of Lonoke, where she and her husband Hulen farmed and owned the Farmer's Kitchen restaurant. Following this, Freida worked at Wal-Mart, where she began as a sales clerk and worked her way up to assistant manager. She is preceded in death by her first husband, Hulen Harwood of Lonoke, Ark.; by her second husband, Carl Sims of Conway, Ark.; her grandson, Alex Harwood, of Humboldt, Tenn.; brother, Douglas McArthur, of Norfolk, Va.; sister, Fay Brown, of Lonoke, Ark. and her parents, Arvel and Nettie McArthur. She is survived by her son, Andy Harwood and wife Patricia of Humboldt, Tenn.; daughter, Susan Harwood Shaddox and husband Ken of Conway, Ark.; grandsons, Sage Shaddox and Zach Shaddox and wife Deanna; sister, Kathy French and husband Bob of Albuquerque, N.M. and brother James Latham McArthur and wife Dottie of Wimberly, Texas and many nieces, nephews and cousins. Freida loved country music, board games, cooking for her family, fishing and gardening. But most, she loved her children and her family and enjoyed taking care of them. Her coconut pie, fried chicken and homemade macaroni's will be sorely missed. Funeral services will be held at Somers Avenue Church of Christ on Oct. 27, 2014 at noon.
