Opal Maxine Yount

Opal Maxine Yount, 83, passed away peacefully, October 26, 2014. Born Opal Maxine Harlan, she is preceded in death by her husband, Dick T. Yount, her parents, John C. and Willie Irene Harlan, two sisters, Maylene Bullock and Mary(Mickie) Dobson, and one grandchild, Danielle K. Grannan. Loving mother and grandmother to nine children, Sandra Young(Michael), Catherine Slinkard(J.J.), Patricia Grannan, Carol O'betz, Jane Rogers, Nancy Bunch(Tim), John Yount, Barbara Elizandro and Detroy Silverman; nine grandchildren, Jon Danley, Eric Danley, Christine Tucker, John O'betz, Zach O'betz, Maggie Rogers, Jacob Bunch and Tori Elizandro; three great-grandchildren; Seth Danley and Amelie Rose Tucker. Maxine and D.T. relocated in hometown, Humphrey, Arkansas, after retiring from military service in 1967. She was a hairdresser and seamstress and used these skills on her seven daughters! She began her career as a Nursing Assistant at Crestpark in Stuttgart. Her career continued until retirement from the Stuttgart Memorial Hospital(now Baptist Health). Her reputation as a devoted and skilled member of the nursing staff quickly spread upon her retirement. She reentered the workforce as a private care provider and continued her love of nursing for many more years. She enjoyed sewing, quilting, cooking, canning– especially making jelly for family and friends. Maxine loved fresh flowers and kept bouquets in her home whenever available. Visitation will be at 1 p.m., November 1, 2014, at the Humphrey Baptist Church, Humphrey, Arkansas with a memorial service to follow at 2 p.m. Family was assisted by Ralph Robinson & Son. www.ralphrobinsonandson.com.
