Msgt. GEORGE WILLIAM OBERT, SR., USAF (Ret.), age 65, of Sherwood went to be with his Lord on Tuesday, October 28, 2014. He was born May 1, 1949 in Greenfield, Missouri to the late Ivan William Obert and Dorothy Maxine Morey Obert. George served in the United States Air Force and served during the Vietnam War. After 21 years of honorable service, he retired in 1988. Following his military service, he continued work at Lockheed Martin Aerospace Company until his retirement in 2001. He enjoyed spending time with his family and friends. He enjoyed hunting, golfing, bowling, coaching his three sons in baseball, but most of all enjoying the life he and his wife made together. He adored his three grandchildren and loved every moment he spent with them. He will always be remembered as a loving husband, father, and grandfather, and will be deeply missed. George is survived by his best friend and loving wife of 42 years Ratana Obert; three sons, Norey Obert of Germantown, Tenn.; Jan Obert and his wife Kerri of North Little Rock; George Obert, Jr. and his wife Anita of North Little Rock; and three grandchildren, Drew, Emma, and CJ Obert all of North Little Rock. He is also survived by his five younger siblings, Carl Edward Obert and his wife Priscilla of Las Vegas, Nev.; Valerie Obert Wilkinson and her husband Rex of Greenfield, Mo.; Galen Leon Obert and his wife Jennifer of Bethany, Mo.; Wesley Dean Obert and his wife Rebecca of Lockwood, MO; and Steven Douglas Obert and his wife Nancy of Lamar, Mo.; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends. The family will receive friends on Sunday, November 2, 2014 from 2 p.m. until 4 p.m. at Moore's Jacksonville Funeral Home, 1504 N JP Wright Loop Rd, Jacksonville, Ark. 72076. Graveside services with full military honors will be Monday, November 3, 2014 at 10 a.m. at the Arkansas State Veterans Cemetery, 1501 West Maryland Ave., North Little Rock, Ark. 72120. Memorial contributions can be made in George's name to the Disabled American Veterans (DAV), 2200 Fort Roots Dr. #65, North Little Rock, Ark. 72114.
