Jerry Royce Pinson, 76, of Hermitage, formerly of Crossett, died Oct. 28, 2014 at his residence. He was born on April 12, 1938 in Vick, Arkansas to Virgil and Myrea Outlaw Pinson. He served in the United States Navy and was an original member of Seal Team One in 1962. During his military career he served three tours in Vietnam and two in Cambodia among others. He retired after 21 years of service as a Chief Petty Officer in 1975. He was also Vice President of Maintenance for AD&N Railway Co. for 20 years, a founding member of Freedom Ministries, Fire Chief of the Johnsville Fire Department, Vice President of the Martin Bottom Hunting Club and an honorary member of the "Mud Monkeys". He is preceded in death by his wife, Alene Dye Pinson; his parents, Virgil and Myrea Pinson; one sister, Virginia Hornbuckle; and one brother, Walter Pinson. He is survived by four sons, Jeffrey Pinson of Hermitage; Jerry Royce Pinson, Jr. of Hot Springs, Donnie Stephens of Cantonment, Fla., and David Stephens and wife Ramona of Greenbrier; three daughters, Julie Hamilton and husband Stephen of Crossett, Angie Hogan and husband Tim of Crossett, and Allison Pinson of San Diego, Calif.; along with ten grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. Funeral services are 2 p.m., Saturday, November 1, 2014 at Freedom Ministries, 221 W. Pierce St. in Crossett with Bro. Tim Anderson officiating. Burial will be in the Crossroads Cemetery. Pallbearers are Bob Vickers, Art Finney, Ernie Fowler, Carl Peterson, Jimbo Mashburn, James Mashburn, Clint Mashburn and Stephen Hamilton. Visitation will be 6-8 p.m., Friday, October 31st at Medders Funeral Home, 1564 Hwy. 52 W in North Crossett.
