Helen Maxine Ferguson

Helen Maxine Ferguson, 91, of El Dorado went to be with her Lord on Saturday, Aug. 30, 2014. She was born Aug. 3, 1923 in Okolona, Ark., to John Tillman and Edith Pearl (Vestal) Taunton. During WWII Helen worked for an ammunition factory in Minden, La. Following that, she worked as a phone operator for Southwestern Bell Telephone and was a member of the Pioneers Club. She retired after more than 39 years of service. Helen was also a member of the VFW Ladies Auxiliary and attended Westside Baptist Church before her health failed. She was a wonderful cook and enjoyed cooking for her family. She will be remembered as a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and sister. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Henry H. Ferguson Sr.; two brothers, Clayton and Hubert "Sam" and two sisters, Nawasa and Mary. Those left to cherish her memory are her son, Henry H. Ferguson Jr. and Gwen of El Dorado; sister, Gladys Dunn and Edward of El Dorado; two granddaughters, Traci Pendergrass and Mike, Hillary Heaberlin and Jeff; two great-granddaughters, Presli Pendergrass and Malori Pendergrass all of Bryant, Ark.; special niece, Martha Dunn of El Dorado; numerous nieces; nephews; and host of friends. Visitation is from 12-2 p.m. Tuesday, prior to service time. Funeral services are at 2 p.m. Tuesday, at Bailey Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Bob Inmon officiating. Burial will follow at Rest Haven Memorial Gardens under the direction of Bailey Funeral Home in El Dorado. The family will be at the home of Henry H. Ferguson Jr. at 6523 Calion Hwy in El Dorado. Pallbearers will be Michael Dunn, Jeff Heaberlin, Mike Pendergrass, Hank Lewis, Chet Lewis and Bruce Parker.
