LAURA MARGARET STEWART, 99, of Little Rock died Aug. 25, 2014 in Hot Springs, Ark. Margaret was born on Nov. 20, 1914 in Paragould, Ark. She graduated from the University of the Ozarks in Clarksville, Ark., in 1934 with a degree in English history. She taught history at Central High School in Little Rock and in Fort Smith, Ark. Later, she returned to Little Rock as a guidance counselor at Hall High School. She was a member of the G. Springdale chapter of P.E.O., (joining in 1936) and had received a 50-year membership recognition. Margaret was also a long-time member of First United Methodist Church of Little Rock. She was preceded in death by her parents, Rev. and Mrs. Allen D. Stewart; sisters, Virginia Cox and Martha Waddell; and brother, Rev. George E. Stewart. She is survived by her sister, Ruth Lynch; and numerous nieces and nephews. Visitation is from 6-8 p.m. Friday, Sept. 5, 2014 at Griffin Leggett Healy & Roth Funeral Home at 5800 W. 12th Street, Little Rock. Memorial Services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 6, 2014 at First United Methodist Church, on 8th and Center streets in Little Rock, with Dr. Ed Matthews, officiating. Interment will follow at Roselawn Memorial Park. Memorials in her memory may be made to First United Methodist Church of Little Rock.
