Marvin Lee Hodges

Marvin Lee Hodges, 76, of Bryant passed away peacefully Aug. 31, 2014, surrounded by his loving family. He was born in Black Hawk, Miss., to Drayton and Grace Hodges. He was preceded in death by his parents. Remaining to cherish his memory are his wife, Dorothy Castleberry Hodges; sons, Steve (Gayla) Hodges and Gene (Karen) Hodges; and daughter, Pamela Hodges Schock, all of Bryant. Also surviving are his grandchildren, Heather (Glyn) Faulkner of Bryant, Aaron (Lauren) Hodges of Ft. Smith, Lance (Ryan) Hodges of Mabelvale, and Kristen Hodges, Emma Schock, and Samuel Schock all three of Bryant; great-grandchildren, Brad, Jordon, and Zachary Faulkner of Bryant, and Dakota, Mason, and Gwyneth Hodges of Mabelvale; brother, James (Lucy) Hodges of Greenwood, Miss., and a host of other family and dear friends. Marvin had numerous friends over the years and was involved in many organizations. He was of the Methodist faith. He belonged to Eastern Star and Masonic Lodge 574 in Bryant. He was a 33rd degree in the Scottish Rite, York Rite, member of Bendemeer Grotto, former member of Bedouin Unit, Motor Patrol, and served as recorder of the Scimitar Shrine Center. He was a member of the Royal Order of Jesters Court 12. Marvin loved his family: he was a great protector! He enjoyed talking about history, watching war documentaries, and discussing or watching anything police-related. In his earlier years, he enjoyed traveling. After a 29 year career with Xerox, Marvin pursued his passion of law enforcement and served Bryant Police Department and the Saline County Sheriff's Office from which he retired. A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 4, 2014, in the Roller-Drummond Funeral Home Chapel, 10900 Interstate 30, Little Rock, Ark. 72209, 501-455-4800. Entombment with Masonic Rites will follow at Pinecrest Memorial Park in Alexander. The family will receive friends from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m., Wednesday at the funeral home.
